International Seed Export Program

US seed potatoes are already distinct with their high quality, reputable growing techniques and certification process.  It is with these factors the program has grown, and market share, in most target countries, has done the same.  Participating growers are beginning to reap the rewards exporting has to offer as they diversify their businesses and increase profit margins.

While building demand internationally, the seed export program seeks to increase grower involvement.  Through a grant program, matching funds are available from the USPB to defer the initial costs of penetrating new markets.  Export workshops are conducted to educate US growers about the process.  US seed potato growers are welcome and encouraged to accompany USPB staff and consultants on market development missions to the markets.  The USPB hopes more producers will take advantage of the research and resources available to continue building a strong seed industry and increase exports of US seed potatoes around the world.

The following strategies are used to achieve the overall goal of building demand for US seed exports:

Identify new markets through research.

Promote US seed exports via “spot sales”

Market Development Program in Targeted Markets

Continue market access efforts

Continue grant program and communication efforts that encourages and assists grower participation in seed exports

Encourage the creation of a seed export entity

Current Target Markets:
