Colorado Potato Grower to Lead
United States Potato Board Finance Team

DENVER—(March 25, 2008) Monty Smith of Blanca, CO, was elected to the United States Potato Board (USPB) Executive Committee at the organization’s 36th Annual Meeting held in Denver, CO, March 12-14. Smith is serving his second year on the USPB, and first year as the chairman of the Finance Committee.

“I’m excited to continue serving on the USPB Administrative Committee, and now as chair of the Finance Committee,” Smith said. “I’ve believed in the work the Board has been doing for many years, and it’s exciting to be a part of it. I also think everyone should have a firm understanding on finance, especially as it pertains to managing the national and international marketing programs the USPB so effectively directs.”

Smith grew up on his family’s Three S Ranch, Inc., in Blanca. He completed an agronomy degree at Colorado State University at Fort Collins, CO, and returned to the farm in early 1988 where he continues to serve an active role in decision making and management. The farm produces 1,900 acres of potatoes, 1,900 acres of malt barley and 600 acres of dairy hay.
